Quarantine Habits the FinGym Team is Keeping

Since the arrival of COVID-19 in America, our daily habits, routines, and lives have all been upended. As we’re all doing our part to slow the spread, we’re finding ourselves spending more time at home and building new routines. While there are many parts of before life that we’re looking forward to again (like giving big hugs!), the past few months have given us a chance to slow life down and build some new habits.

We asked some of our Financial Gym employees what habits they’ve built during quarantine that they’re looking forward to keeping.

I am trying not to fall into spending traps so I can take this time to try and save more, plus going out for more walks!

Caitlin, Chief Marketing Officer

A daily gratitude practice! It’s very easy to think about all of the things that have gone wrong this year, but remembering all that I have to be grateful for helps my mind keep the negativity away!

Before quarantine, I probably only connected with friends across the country every few months. Since our social lives are all on pause, I’ve had weekly video chats with friends from coast to coast!

Emily, Strategic Projects Manager

I actually learned how to use my stove and oven. I don't enjoy cooking, but in an effort to not eat pizza and pasta all day every day I have made buffalo chicken salads, chicken tikka masala and rasta pasta w/ shrimp!! I also had tons of postcards I had collected from old trips so I sent them to friends.

I recorded and posted a cover song a day (sans 3) on Instagram (@seanieh_) and Youtube. It has been so nice to play music daily again!

Chandra, Certified Financial Trainer

For mental clarity and health, I’ve been going on morning walks. I’m averaging about 5 miles a morning exploring my neighborhood!

Two daily routines I’ve incorporated are practicing yoga and taking a daily walk listening to podcasts. I’ve also made more of an effort to shop locally, like a weekly trip to my farmer’s market!

Rebekkah, Client Experience Associate

With an emphasis on outdoor spaces being lower risk areas than indoor or stagnant space, I’ve been going on hikes for an outing with friends and family instead of going out to restaurants!

I have been trying to have a more consistent and reasonable bedtime and a steady night time routine-building out that skincare game!!

Victoria Chan, Office Manager

I’ve really enjoyed taking a morning run, trying out new recipes, and shopping locally!
