Podcast Notes
Michelle’s background to become a Licensed Certified Financial Trainer:
In some ways, she has always been the go-to person for her friend's and family's money questions. When she started her finance journey, she wanted to learn as much as possible and found Martinis and your Money. That's where she learned about the Certified Financial Trainer Program and was excited to become a Financial Trainer.
Money Manifestation & Money Mindset
Michelle was diving deep into personal development books and started a 'No- Negative Campaign' in her life. With this challenge, she wanted to curse less, cut out negative self-talk, and cut out negative talk about others. She also did not want to be around folks engaging in that type of negative talk and would put her hand up and say, 'nope, no-negative campaign.'
A lot of folks struggle with negative self-talk. If you wouldn't talk to someone else that way, don't talk to yourself. The first step in changing that mindset is catching those negative thoughts and addressing them by thinking about how to replace that thought.
When Jazmin thinks about money mindset, it's about creating the life that you want to live. First, you must know what you're working towards to put the budget together. Sometimes, it can be hard for folks to think about the life they want because they feel stuck, can't see past the debt, and don't permit themselves to dream.
There is a huge lack of financial literacy in this country. Once you have a goal in place and put the plan together, it's easier to move forward. Remind yourself, 'I can do hard things,' The magic of being a Financial Trainer is helping clients see these things ARE possible.
Salary Negotiation:
Part of money manifestation is taking action, like negotiating for a higher salary.
The biggest win in salary negotiation is advocating for yourself.

Good time to negotiate for a higher salary:
When you first get hired, the starting salary. From there, ask your employer about a time frame for when you can revisit the conversation. Create a plan and timeline for execution with your employer.
If you're already employed, lay out your timeline for the raise conversation during the review. It might not happen during the review, so let them know you plan to revisit in 3-6 months.
