Podcast Notes
Why The Financial Gym Works
If you've ever considered joining The Financial Gym, hearing the experience from former and current clients can help you understand what's possible! Jonecia is here to talk about her experience as a client at The Financial Gym.
Jonecia was a client of The Gym in 2020 for about six months. She took a break for a few years and joined again last year. She joined because even though she had a decent salary, she was struggling to make ends meet.
Jonecia felt she needed to become more financially literate and wanted to set herself up for success. Working with her Trainer, Kimberly has helped her tackle debt, create and stick to a budget, and work on her money mindset.
A Trainer at The Financial Gym will not only give you a plan, but provide you with accountability. They help clients reflect on financial habits and goals and take ownership of their decisions.
Financial health is more than just a budget or your numbers. Mindset shifts, understanding your 'why' and making intentional sacrifices are all important steps in working towards financial goals.
From Struggling to Financial Confidence
Jonecia shares how living paycheck to paycheck encouraged her to reevaluate her finances and commit to building a sustainable but balanced plan. Kimberly was able to look at her financial picture and create a plan that works for her life.
Using the Training Zone to mindfully track her spending brought clarity for Jonecia. She realized she had impulsive spending habits that didn't align with her goals. She started using a cash budget for things like groceries to have more control over those impulses.
With Kim's guidance, Jonecia has been able to set specific goals and action steps to accomplish them. This included negotiating for a higher salary and exploring career opportunities. The higher salary was a pivotal moment in her financial journey.
The process of asking for a raise can be nerve-wracking. Kim helped her understand her value and advocate for herself with confidence. Accomplishing that goal salary was empowering and is an example of the value of preparation and self-advocacy.
Advice for New Clients
The Financial Gym works with clients of all financial shapes and sizes and has truly seen it all. If you are scared to join, Jonecia recommends 'do it scared,' be open, and trust the process.
Working towards financial goals, you will need to have honest conversations with yourself about what you truly want and about what sacrifices need to be made. Some sacrifices are temporary, and you will learn a lot about what is important to you.
A financial journey does not happen overnight. Accomplishing big goals takes time, patience, and persistence. Once you have a plan, it's about sticking to it. Mistakes and setbacks are part of the process and your growth.
Working with a Trainer at The Financial Gym can help you achieve your goals with purpose and clarity. Lean into them as a resource and ask questions. If you aren't sure what your goals are, a Trainer can help you figure them out.
The plan you get from your Trainer is a living document. It can and will evolve as you grow and your goals change. This long-term collaboration and accountability is the key to long-term success as a Financial Gym client.
