Cost-Effective Ways to Reduce Your Team’s Stress This Season

Chances are the employees at your company are feeling the pain of inflation and concerns of a recession. They don’t need to hear it from an economist to know that things in general are getting more expensive and companies are looking for ways to tighten their belts. Combine that with the pressure of the holiday season, and you may have some stressed folks in your workplace. In addition to raises and/or bonuses if your company can afford them, there are other ways you make this time less financially stressful for your employees.

Half-Day Fridays

Some companies offer “summer Fridays” so everyone gets out early, but who says that only has to happen in the summer? Consider a month-long or quarter-long practice of half-day Fridays (or whatever day of the week strikes your fancy) during this holiday season.

Extra PTO

Reduce your team's stress

If your company doesn’t already close for the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, consider giving employees that time off to rest and rejuvenate before the start of the year without counting it against their PTO. Not a lot of work tends to get done during that time anyway, so why not build some goodwill with your employees?

Free Food

If your employees are in the office, cater breakfast or lunch. If they work from home, email them a gift card for a food delivery app! Make sure to offer healthy options and consider employees’ food restrictions so no one gets left out.

Fun/Wellness Stipend

You could offer a stipend to each employee, anywhere from $25 or more per month. This way, employees get to define how they use that money. It may be a small token, but it shows that you’re making an effort to help your workers out and that you care about their mental health!

Company-Wide Volunteer Day

We all know it feels good to help others, especially this time of year. Why not embrace this as a company and give everyone a day off to volunteer somewhere that is meaningful to them?

Trainer on Demand

The Financial Gym offers a “phone-a-friend for your finances” service. It’s natural for employees to worry about the stability of their jobs and how they’re going to pay the bills when the cost of everything seems to be increasing. The Financial Gym’s Trainer on Demand program gives your employees one-on-one access to a Certified Financial Trainer who can help them manage their finances in a volatile market or a recession. This kind of service shows your employees that you understand their concerns about the economy and you want to help them. Employees who are less stressed about their financial situation perform better at work, so it’s a win-win!

Financial Wellness Webinar

Another option to help your employees manage their finances is to invest in financial wellness webinars. The Financial Gym offers a host of options, ranging from Budgeting Bootcamp to Investing 101 to Student Loans. An hour-long lunch-and-learn presentation can give your employees tools to implement right away with their finances and start the year off right.

The Financial Gym is a national, personal financial services company with a fitness-inspired approach. Certified Financial Trainers™ work with employees one-on-one via corporate partnerships virtually across the country.
