The Financial Gym Community Offerings with Chandra & Kylie
On this episode of Financially Naked: Stories from The Financial Gym, our host is Kylie Lipinski, a DC-based Financial Trainer and she is joined by Gym colleague, Chandra. Chandra, based in NY, is the Community Engagement Lead at The Financial Gym and is here today to talk about The Gym community. Since the physical locations officially closed earlier this year, they have been focusing on how to connect in new, hybrid-style ways. From client-specific opportunities to those open to the public, Chandra and Kylie talk about all the different ways you can get involved in The Financial Gym Community even more!
Podcast Notes
Community is one of the core pillars of Financial Gym, and there are so many ways you can get involved, whether you’re a member or not!
When there were physical locations, people could meet at events, run into trainers they didn’t usually meet with, and growing the community felt more organic. Since the physical spaces have closed, the online community is more important than ever. They have been focusing 0n a hybrid model, with some in-person events, and expanding the online spaces.
While we’ve all become more accustomed to a virtual lifestyle, it’s less natural than being in person. A huge part of making a financial journey enjoyable is about having a community!
Events for both members and non-members:
FinGym on the Road with Community Spirit Vodka
Right now, Shannon and The Gym are on the Financial Gym Road Tour. They’ve already been to Portland, Chicago, LA, and San Francisco. It’s been an exciting time for folks to be able to meet Shannon, new trainers, and other clients.
On November 1st, there’s an event in Boston! Register here!
Wine & Learn Wednesdays
These happen on the first Wednesday of each month! They are virtual webinars that cover various topics. This month’s event is all about Budgeting for Freelance income. You can learn more & register for the event here.
Client Only Events:
These tend to be a bit slower in the summer. With the warm weather, the last thing people want after being in the virtual office all day is to log into another meeting. Things will really pick up in September, which is why it’s a great time to talk about all of these opportunities now.
Financial Gym Book Club:
The next book club meeting is on November 7, and they are reading the book, Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
In addition to finance books, the book club also dips into personal development titles. When picking books, Chandra likes to keep it interesting for folks, and break up the subject matter.
Some books they’re read in the past are, You are a Badass by Jen Sincero, Your Money or your Life by Vicki Robin, and Mindful Money by Jonathan K. DeYoe
Chandra’s Paint & Sip events:
While Chandra is not a professional painter, she hosts client Paint & Sip events. These are a space for clients to relax and unwind, but money questions and discussions are always welcome.
Financial Gym Community Slack Channel:
This is new and still growing and developing.
If you’re interested in joining, let your trainer know! There’s a short questionnaire to fill out, which will put you in the workflow of being added!
Right now, Chandra does quizzes, watercooler questions, and fun polls. Folks sometimes ask questions and there are fun discussions.
How to join these community events:
There are two newsletters, one for Fin Gym members, and one for non-members. These newsletters will keep you updated on all of the current and future events.
If you want to help build the community in your area, reach out to support@fingyms.com.
You can always check the ‘Events & Webinars’ page on FinancialGym.com to check dates and register to attend!
