They talk today about coaching women of faith and some of their favorite Bible verses related to personal finance.
Podcast Notes
One of Genina’s clients mentioned the FinGym on the Road event in LA, and she decided to go! It was the first big in-person event she’s attended since covid started. She had the opportunity to meet Shannon, Jazmin, and other folks from the community. She felt so welcomed, and that it was a judgment-free zone.
Working with Women of Faith:
You learn a lot of intimate details about clients as a financial coach. When folks talk about tithing, Jazmin identifies with them because as a woman of faith, that’s a line item in her budget as well.
Genina is passionate about working with women who have higher goals and a desire to please God. Serving and being part of missions teams all require money. It’s what buys the food for the pantry and maintains the temple. She saw women who had the drive and passion but didn’t have the finances. Some folks were taught that having money makes you evil. This is why she niched down to working with women of faith.
As her clients started to get their finances in order, other aspects of their lives began to shift. They would get promotions and raises, and start getting healthier while cooking at home. No matter where you’re starting, you can win with money. Seeing people succeed is such a great joy as a financial coach.
It starts with understanding where their heart is. Once you review the statements, does the spending align with your values? She’s able to say to her clients, this is what The Bible says, this is where you are now, let's see where you want to go.
Jazmin works with a broad range of clients, but one consistency among them, whether they’re religious or not, is generosity is important. They want to be givers in some way.
There are roughly 800 references to money in the Bible. There are some about saving, having a business plan, giving to those less fortunate, and investing. Some examples:
Luke 14: 28-30
Jeremiah 29:11
Proverbs 4:23
2 Corinthians 9
1 Corinthians 16
Wherever you are with your finances at this moment, you can win with money. You can get out of debt, start that business, or become that millionaire. On a financial journey, community is so important. If you want to work with a coach, get in touch!
